With more than a decade of experience in journalism and corporate communications, Shaheen uses her journalistic judgement and management skills to oversee copywriting and transcreation projects. She started her career as a business reporter at The Plain Dealer, a major daily newspaper in Cleveland, Ohio, where she covered technology, entrepreneurship and real estate. Since moving to Spain in 2010, she has worked as a freelance journalist for The Wall Street Journal, and held communications roles in the energy industry. She holds an MBA from IE Business School and a BA in journalism from Ohio State University.
James is in charge of maintaining client relationships and making sure projects are carried out in the most efficient way possible. Before founding VeraContent, James co-founded Rodmell House. Prior to that, he was a logistics manager at the multinational banking services firm Wincor Nixdorf. He is completely bilingual in English and Spanish, having grown up in Spain with British origin. James holds a law degree from Complutense University, a master’s in International Logistics & Transport from Universidad Europea in Madrid, and a certificate in advanced accounting from the Centro de Estudios Financieros CEF.
Daphne’s expertise is in communications, copywriting, and overseeing large translation projects. Before founding VeraContent, she co-founded Rodmell House. She also worked in several agencies carrying out media outreach, writing original content and developing online marketing strategies. In 2014, Daphne created one of Madrid’s most trafficked English-language guides, Naked Madrid, where she continues to write and edit articles on the city’s restaurant and bar culture, arts scene and events. Born and raised in New York City, she came to Spain in 2007 to complete a degree in Communications and Journalism at St. Louis University in Madrid.
Kyle specializes in translating scientific, legal, financial, marketing and advertising texts from Spanish to English. He has worked as a language consultant for private and public institutions, such as Acciona, Telefónica, Spain’s Ministry of Public Works and Spain’s Revenue Agency (Agencia Tributaria), among others. Kyle has also worked as a market research analyst and, in addition to his work at VeraContent, he is a reporter and contributor for the British trade magazine Global Corporate Venturing. Kyle holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from St. Joseph’s College New York and a master’s degree in Marketing from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid.
Edison’s fluency in Chinese, Japanese, English, Portuguese and Spanish has led him to work as a simultaneous translator for the Spanish Ministry of Culture, Japanese language consultant for Google Glass and Chinese professor at university level. Edison also holds a certificate in teaching Chinese to Spanish speakers from the Autónoma University of Madrid. Born in Taiwan and living in Madrid for the last eight years, Edison completed a degree in International Relations and Spanish Language & Literature from St. Louis University.
Elise is a specialist in corporate and financial communications. Before joining VeraContent, she worked as an analyst in the Investor Relations department at Infinity Insurance for seven years, where she prepared SEC financial statements and worked closely with the communications department to craft reports and communicate results. Her strong attention to detail and knowledge of specialized terminology gives us an advantage in dealing with sensitive financial communications. She holds a BS in accounting from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
