In today’s interview, German-native Daniela Klein talks about her marketing career and experience, from freelancing to working in-house for a nearly 800-employee company. After completing a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies at Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg in Bavaria, Daniela moved to Cologne, where she now works as the content marketing manager at Trusted Shops

Trusted Shops has a presence throughout Europe and is all about providing trust for online shoppers. As the world becomes more digital—and online shopping continues to grow—companies like Trusted Shops are essential to provide buyer protection and security for consumers in the digital marketplace.

Daniela’s primary role at Trusted Shops is to foster trust with their audience through content marketing—including publishing content on various consumer-facing social media channels as well as in their corporate consumer magazine and educating consumers on security around online shopping.

During the interview, Daniela chats with Kyler Canastra about what inspired her to get into marketing, the different roles that she’s worked in, more about her responsibilities at Trusted Shops and the importance of being flexible in marketing, among other topics.

“I think it’s more important than ever to be ready for an ever-changing environment. Our digital world is so diverse, it’s moving so fast, and it’s really different than it was 10 years ago.”

  • Productivity hack:
    • Work from a co-working space: “I enjoy working from different co-working spaces from time to time, to see some other people and to gain new insights. Even without actually talking to people, you benefit from a new working environment, which is really helpful. It also helps you to stay on the ground and makes you appreciate your personal achievements.”
  • Source of inspiration:
    • Strong females: “I admire all the strong females out there who aren’t being quiet, but showing themselves and speaking out about topics—though the world is often too male dominated. To name just one of them, for sure, Michelle Obama—who’s not a fan, right? But there are so many unknown girls and women whose name might as well be here. Keep it up!”
    • Global Digital Women: “It’s a women’s business network/community with a lot of inspiring and successful women in it, focusing on topics of gender equality in business and female leadership. GDW combines a big LinkedIn group, many events, a Facebook group, panels and other interesting stuff. Really successful and inspirational women publish their posts there or hold speeches, sharing their insights. Their CEO Tijen Onaran is definitely worth listening to!”
