Mark Colgan knows a good match when he sees one. After successful stints in recruiting and digital marketing, Mark gained a wealth of knowledge that helped him co-found his own podcast relations agency, aptly named Speak On Podcasts.

As the co-founder and CRO of Speak On Podcasts, Mark connects executives at B2B and technology brands with podcast hosts. He helps them fuel their brand awareness, reputation and revenue by speaking on podcasts that their audiences already listen to and trust.

Shaheen Samavati interviews Mark in today’s episode, touching on his unconventional entrepreneurial journey, advice for appearing on podcasts and tips for generating genuine quality leads.

  • Recommended reading: The Automatic Customer by John Warrillow. “John’s written several great books. This one discusses how to create a subscription business in any industry. He explains that if you implement a subscription business model and you have multiple touchpoints in the lifecycle of the customer, it really creates a sense of trust and brand affinity. It’s a great book even if you’re not in the subscription world.”
  • Productivity hack: Outsourcing. “It’s probably one of the best ways to leverage your time, because we don’t get any more hours in a day.”
  • Favorite app: The video messaging tool Loom. “I really can’t think of a use case that has come up yet where it hasn’t been able to replace an in-person call.”
  • Learning resource: CoSchedule’s podcast. “The team over there do a great job of creating podcasts about content marketing.”
