With over 20 years’ experience in the marketing industry, UK-native Euan Brown has worked for some of the world’s top brands, including the BBC, The Walt Disney Company and Coca-Cola. Today, Euan is the head of digital and content at Virgin‘s new rewards club, Virgin Red.

Euan’s marketing career started after finishing his studies in psychology. While he was fascinated by psychology and learning about people, Euan decided to go into the TV industry and managed to get a job at the BBC, which is an amazing company to get started in if you’re interested in digital, he says.

From there, Euan went on to work for several impressive brands and marketing campaigns, including the Coca-Cola London 2012 Olympic Games campaign and the “Share a Coke” campaign.

While much of Euan’s career in marketing has been working in-house, he also freelanced for five years before starting his current role at Virgin Red. During that time, he continued working for some of the UK’s top brands, including HSBC, Lloyds Banking Group, United Nations and Google.

According to Euan, he has “dabbled in a bit of everything” when it comes to marketing but is now focused on the content side, which plays a major role in Virgin Red’s current digital strategy.

Tune in for the full conversation as Euan chats with Kyler Canastra about his career journey and some of the top brands and campaigns that he’s worked with. Euan also shares a great tip for how to get started in the industry by showing your passion.

“Everything about marketing is really about getting under the skin of why people do what they do, why they think what they think, and trying to talk to people in the right way and find the right people to talk to.”

    • Look at your to-do list the night before: “The night before, I have a look at my calendar and to-do list, and I organize it in priority order. My to-do list will change during the day, and I don’t always get through it all. In fact, I can’t remember the last time I got through it all, but that’s okay, as long as you’re prioritizing the right stuff.”
